According to this regulation, driveway speed bump projections cannot be placed in:
- Crossings of less than 200 m in length.
- Where the speed (of the 85th percentile) is greater than 60 km / h.
- On bridges and tunnels, not 25 m before or after them.
- If the crossing has a slope greater than 5%.
- If there are more than two traffic lanes in each direction unless there is a non-passable median between both directions.
- There are crossings with an average daily intensity of more than 5,000 vehicles or a peak hourly intensity of more than 300 vehicles.
- Donkey back speed bumps cannot be used in the vicinity of intersections.
- The following measures are specified for sections whose maximum speed is between 30 and 50 km / h.
- Speed-reducing projections of the elevated pedestrian crossing type: this type is more common to be built in the same place (in situ), with concrete or asphalt.
- They must be 10 cm tall (plus, minus 1 cm).
- The length of the horizontal raised section must be 4 m (plus, minus 20 cm). Only in exceptional cases is a minimum of 2.5 m allowed.
- The entrance ramp’s length and the exit ramp must be 1 m for 30 km / h, 1.5 m for 40 km / h, and 2.5 m for 50 km / h.
- The step at the leading edge should be less than half a centimeter.
- They must be 6 cm tall (plus, minus 1 cm).
- The length of the shoulder should be 4 m (plus, minus 20 cm). Only in exceptional cases is a minimum of 2.5 m allowed (and there must be a justified reason).
- The step at the leading edge should be less than half a centimeter.
- For a speed of 50 km / h: length of 60 cm minimum and height of 3 cm maximum.
- Exceptionally, in the case of construction sites or interior enclosures with speed lower than 50 km / h: length of at least 60 and 120 cm and height between 5 and 7 cm.
